GDS has delivered the power and control systems behind the new architectural lighting of Bristol’s iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, supporting its recent restoration and re-illumination. Working alongside lighting consultants Hoare Lea, system integrator StudioTech, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust, the GDS Drive Hub platform provides distributed power and precise control for the linear RGBW lighting installed along the suspension chains and towers.
The new scheme enhances the bridge’s distinctive structure while enabling dynamic lighting displays for civic events, alongside efficient and reliable everyday illumination. Installed within both towers, the Drive Hub system ensures long-term reliability, accessibility, and flexibility for this Grade I listed landmark.
