Breathing New Life into Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine with GDS

The Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine in Italy has completed a major lighting upgrade with more than 400 GDS Puppis 1K Fade to Warm (FTW) fixtures, powered by GDS Drive Hub technology.

The project was first reviewed by GDS in December 2022, followed by a site visit in March 2023, as the theatre explored how its existing infrastructure could be re-purposed rather than replaced. At the heart of the installation is GDS Drive Hub with IPM, allowing the theatre to make use of its existing cabling while providing modern power, control and dimming performance.

The project was identified by our friends at Decima 1948, with delivery and installation supported by our Italian partners Coemar Lighting Srl.

The result is a significant upgrade to the theatre’s lighting capability, combining Puppis 1K FTW’s high-performance theatrical output and warm dimming with the efficiency and flexibility of the Drive Hub platform. A project several years in the making, and a great example of how GDS technology can modernise existing infrastructure without requiring a complete rewire.
